Brawl marks end of Bemidji, Brainerd hockey game

Where on earth would Minnesota high school kids playing hockey learn that brawling on the ice is acceptable behavior for youth sports?

It happened when the fellas decided to “let ’em know they’re there” after the Bemidji and Brainerd Section 8 2A Quarterfinal game last evening.

The video was posted on the Grand Forks Herald website.

Bemidji fell 5-to-4 in overtime after blowing a 3-0 lead. That ends a string of section titles, state tournament appearances, and a state consolation championship, according to the Bemidji Pioneer, which didn’t mention the brawl.

Lakeland Public Television says it started after the final goal.

Meanwhile, in Burnsville, the hockey kids are getting ready to defend their hockey hair title, the Pioneer Press reports.
